UPDATE: Auburn Police respond to fatal traffic crash

UPDATE (Sept. 3, 2026):
AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn Police Department provides the following update regarding the fatal traffic crash that occurred on Nov. 18, 2025, near the 1000 block of East University Drive involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle.
Following an investigation by the Auburn Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit, the driver of the school bus, Theresa McCloud, age 75, was indicted by a Lee County Grand Jury on charges of homicide by vehicle and criminally negligent homicide.
On Sept. 3, 2026, McCloud was arrested on the indictments and was transported to the Lee County Jail where she is being held on a $12,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

AUBURN, Ala. - On Nov. 18, 2025, Auburn Police officers responded to a traffic crash involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle near the 1000 block of East University Drive. First responders from the Auburn Police Department, the Auburn Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on scene to render aid. However, the driver of the passenger vehicle, a 42-year-old female, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased. No additional injuries were reported.
The Auburn Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit responded, and an investigation was initiated. The case remains active while investigators review all evidence and data available.
